Even though it has been 40 years since I had the privilege of being around Kim as a fellow classmate and friend, the thoughts / memories of her life, spirit and love for people all seem like those moments were yesterday. When I read the testimonies posted on the website following her death, saw the pictures of her life's journey and reflected upon what she added to my life when I knew her the best in high school, my immediate conclusion was: I am a blessed person to have known her.
Kim was always a source of encouragement to me. I never experienced a negative word or thought of criticism from her. She was genuine, vulnerable, loving, kind, consistent, and her presence allowed any tense moment to be placed in proper perspective. Her contagious smile and the special sparkle that came from her brown eyes were priceless. I could not tell you how many times I felt better after having the chance to be around Kim when we were in school together. I am a blessed person to have known her.
As I read your expressions of appreciation for those who have written and expressed kind deeds in memory of Kim, I admire your strength, your commitment to honoring Christ and can only imagine the paradox of emotions you must encounter each day in missing her dearly while knowing she is in the presence of Christ.
My prayers will be with you, Jenny and Wes as you move forward without Kim as your Wife, your best Friend, their Mother, a Grandmother and the special person she was to all who knew her. May the Lord keep you in His Love, provide you comfort in your loss and renew your strength through His Word. Please know, I am a blessed person to have known Kim. She was a very good person and I count it an honor to have known her as a friend.
